I acknowledge that the practice of fencing includes the risk of injury and accidents. I declare to know the nature and extent of these risks, I freely and voluntarily agree to accept them and I, for my part and on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, release Glengarry Broadsword Academy, their coaches, officials, members, agents, officers, and employees, from any and all responsibility and waive any right, claim, demand or action, arising from loss, injury or damage suffered during or following the practice of fencing.

I understand that all members, students and participants are required to respect the safety rules, the Glengarry Broadsword Academy Code of Conduct, and the True Sport Principles in the salle d'armes (i.e. training hall), at tournaments, and when representing the club.

(For minors under 18) I, the undersigned, parental or guardian of the minor child, have read the above statement and hereby agree to it. I consent to my child’s participation in all activities related to the practice of fencing at Glengarry Broadsword Academy (Clann a’ Claidheimh)

MARTIAL ARTS WAIVER SAFETY

1. I acknowledge that martial arts are a potentially dangerous activity. The possibility of bumps, bruises, scrapes, soreness, sprains, twists, related injuries, or even death is possible. I completely absolve Glengarry Broadsword Academy and any party acting on their behalf of responsibility for any injury I may sustain during any activities during any Glengarry Broadsword Academy events or classes.

2. I acknowledge that physical contact with my body is both part of practicing and learning this martial art. The chest, buttocks, groin, or any part of the body may be contacted by any part of the training partner’s body during training of a specific technique or incidentally contacted while performing a martial arts technique targeting another portion of the body.

3. I understand that Instructors may adjust or manipulate my body to assist in the proper application and understanding of a technique.

4. I understand that I have the right to withdraw from any exercise or drill for any reason and at any time.

5. I consent to any of the staff, employees, agents and representatives of Glengarry Broadsword Academy administering or consenting to the administration of such emergency medical care, including transportation to medical facilities, as such person deems appropriate in the circumstances, and hereby authorize medical treatment in case of emergency.

6. I agree not to bring any claim or suit against Glengarry Broadsword Academy, instructors, staff, guests, students, landlord, or any other parties for any injury or harm sustained by any event short of a criminal act, and then only the criminal shall be the subject of such a claim. I further agree that I will not cause to be brought, nor encourage a claim or suit. I also agree not to cooperate in the bringing of such a suit or claim except insofar as I may be legally required to do so. Finally, I shall indemnify Glengarry Broadsword Academy instructors, staff, guests, students, and any and all additional defendants covered by this agreement for all judgments, costs, attorney fees and other expenses incurred as a result of a breach of this agreement.

7. If any clause, sentence, phrase or statement in this document is found unenforceable or invalid by any court of law, the remainder of this document shall remain valid enforceable and the invalid clause, sentence, phrase or statement shall be considered struck from the document.

Social Media and Publicity Participation

Photos and video will periodically be taken of training activities, competitions and social activities associated with Glengarry Broadsword Academy (Clann a’ Claidheimh).

Code of Conduct

I understand I must respect the people and material around me at all times. I am responsible for ensuring that I am wearing the appropriate protective equipment, athletic clothing, and foot wear while training, sparing or competing. I am responsible for following the guidance

and instruction of instructors and judges during training and competition. I am responsible for following any and all posted and announced rules for training, sparing, and competition. I am responsible for acting in a safe manner for my own safety and that of my training

partners, other competitors, and bystanders.

I understand that I am expected to behave in a respectful manner towards instructors, judges, other students, and competitors, as well as bystanders during training events and competitions.

I understand that, if I am sick, I am to stay away from any Glengarry Broadsword Academy (Clann a’ Claidheimh) class, event, or other training opportunity. This includes colds, flus, covid-19 infections, or any other transmissible disease or affliction.

I understand that language and behavior is unacceptable that is discriminatory on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, skin colour, ancestry, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, or age of that person or group or class of persons.
