Training Schedules
Thursday:
5pm to 6pm - Bairns (Age 6-7);
5pm to 6pm - New Fencers Age 8-13;
5pm to 6:30pm - Intermediate Fencers Age 8-13;
6pm to 7pm - New Fencers Age 14-17, and Adult;
6pm to 7:50pm - Intermediate Fencers Age 14-17, and Adult; and,
7:50 to 8:00pm - Pack up.
Note 1: 'Intermediate Fencer' refers to fencers that have been with the club for at least one Training Semester or for the Summer Fencing Camp;
Note 2: Early Arrival of Fencers Age 14-17, and Adults - A practice area is available for fencers who arrive before their class time in order to warm up and practice on their own or with training partners. A space can also be provided for fencers Age 14-17 to work on homework while waiting for their class to begin;
Note 3: Late arrival of adult fencers - Daytime work schedules and travel distance will make it difficult for some adult fencers to make a 6pm start time for classes. We'll work with adult fencers who have to arrive later in the evening to develop a training plan;
Note 4: Supervised Activities (Age 8-13) - We are actively working on recruiting a team to supervise younger fencers (Age 8-13) whose families would prefer that they stay past their class time. We recognize that families with children of different ages have a challenge for drop off and pick up, and we would like to offer support once we can find the right volunteer staff to manage supervision. At this point we do not have the capacity to supervise children and youth who are not actively participating in the fencing practices on the floor;
Note 5: The focus of Thursday evening training will be small sword through to mid October. After that, small sword training will continue throughout the training year, and intermediate fencers wil also be able to train on single stick on Thursday evenings.
Reasons for the staggered schedule:
We have limitations for space, staff and loaner fencing equipment that require that we move to sequence the classes we offer rather than run all classes concurrently.
